Day 5 - August 9

Up early this morning because of the time change.  Up, showered, dressed, fed and on the road by 7:30 a.m. We drove through the Badlands National Park.  There are lots of places to stop with lookouts and hiking areas.  It was really great.  Just unbelievable scenery.
Then stopped at Wall Drugs and had lunch there.  Carried on to the Custer State Park and drove a circle route through it.  Tons of Harley's still.  One of them drove off the road there.  Road were unbelievable mountainous, turny and twisty.  Very slow going.  Visited Wind Cave National Park.  Did the cave tour, 142 miles of passages on 1 sq. acre of land.  Very interesting.  Spent the night at Elk Mountain Campground in Wind Cave NP.  No hookups, but nice.  Here is a list of the wildlife we saw today:  Big Horn Sheep, Deer, Prairie Dogs, Buffalo, Prong Horn

  2. RV has been performing great, but today something happened that you and Tim can relate to. The passenger side power window quit working. It is stuck about 1/3 open. It probably needs a new motor, for tonight a towel will hang there to keep the bugs out. It was quite hot today 99 degrees, but in the mountains it is much cooler. We are now in Cody Wyoming for the night, Yellowstone tomorrow.

  3. yeah Wall Drug! that place is a pretty fun trap I think - and the wall between upper and lower prairie - It's hard to imagine what horse and buggy travelers would have said when faced with that!
