Day 1 - August 5, 2014

We left Owen Sound on Monday night to catch the ferry in Tobermory. Slept in the line up in the parking lot and had supper at the Crow's Nest.

Up at 5:30 a.m., had breakfast in the van and waited to board the ferry at 6:30 a.m., departed Tobermory at 7:00.

Arrived in South Baymouth at 9:00 a.m..  Stopped at 10 mile lookout for coffee, arrived in Espanola around 10:45.  Had lunch at a rest stop in Blind River, arrived at Sault St. Marie around 2.  Hooked up to WIFI there and found directions to the local CAA office as we had omitted to arrange travel insurance before we left!  We then crossed the bridge to the USA, somewhat of a lineup, got through around 3:30 p.m.  Visited the Soo Locks and Museum and hit the road again.  Arrived at Indian Lake State Park, Michigan at 7:30 p.m., chose our site, made supper, ate, went for a walk, had a shower, had coffee, went to bed at 10:30.  Phew!  Day One over.
