Day 4 - August 8

Left Shetek Lake State Park around 9.  Drove to Pipestone, MN to have coffee at McDonald's and update blog.  It's the last town in Minnesota.
Stopped at the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota and visited a Cabella's store.  It was massive.  Met the two nicest 70ish ladies in the tourist information booth in Mitchell who loaded me up with maps, pamphlets and info about SD.  "Now there's a lot to see in SD so you're gonna want to pick and choose!"  They made my day.  We ate our lunch in the Corn Palace parking lot.  It is a building that is used for sporting, music and other events that is covered both inside and out with murals made of corn.  They are changed every year.  Quite amazing.
Drove to a KOA camp near Belvidere, SD for the night.  The time changed another hour so the days keep getting longer.  Because of Sturgis there has been a steady stream of Harley's going the opposite direction.  It is almost over.
We had a cloudy day all day and our first rain which just came in short showers.  Not pleasant for all the motorcycles.  The scenery has really started to change.  At first it was fields and fields of corn and other crops and around the Missouri river it was a drastic change to hilly, but now it seems flatter again and grassy with cattle grazing.

  4. Angie, so neat to see this all with you. Very cool that the bike rally is still happening at Sturgess. Remember when the Rick, Corey, Chumlee and the boys from American Pickers went....how close are you to Mount Rushmore?
